This week we're joined by the uber talented and super sweet Yeraz Gökbaş. She joined us in the brand new OhSevenDays HQ to shoot some pieces from the new collection, and to chat about career and life in Istanbul. Yeraz is the creative mastermind behind this drool worthy illustration and design portfolio www.behance.net/yerazgokbas. She also looks damn good in OhSevenDays pieces!
What's your name and what do you do?
My name is Yeraz and I'm a recent graduate from media and visual arts. I'm now a graphic designer.

Where were you born and what was your childhood like?
Where were you born and what was your childhood like?
I was born and raised in Istanbul. It's a really chaotic and multicultural city, but it's very vibrant and colourful. My upbringing was a little different growing up in the middle of eastern and western cultures.

What are your hopes and dreams for your career?
Ultimately I'd like to be able to do create things that I love. I want to become an Art Director, and be able to produce my own creations.

What's been your biggest achievement so far in your life?
I'm most proud of the work I did when I was the director of an Art Festival, where I was able to create a world of design from start to finish. The project totally reflected my design aesthetic.

Is sustainability important to you, and what steps do you take to be more sustainable in your day-to-day like?
Yes absolutely! For example, I'm now buying fruit and veg from the organic markets and really trying to be conscious about saving energy.

I find inspiration in nature, colours, shapes most predominantly. Also I seek inspiration from artists like Miro, Matisse, Picasso etc.
I'd love to see myself as an art director within 5 years. I want to have a small art studio and create my own designs, and get my hands dirty with paintings and
ceramics!

Where is home, and what makes it feel like home to you?
Home is my house, where I can relax and clear my ming. I relax with the people and activities I love. It can be as simple as waking up in the morning, making my coffee and watering my plants.
My mother has been the biggest influence on my life. She's a very strong character and has set a great example. She's taught me to stand on my own two feet and take care of myself.
